New Innovative Aerospace Crab Drive Battery Powered Assembly Carts

 

DETROIT, Mi., Sep. 8, 2009 / Fori Automation INC (www.foriauto.com) announces the development of Crab Drive Automated Guided Vehicle for the Aerospace / Defense-Military Industry. This system provides a new solution to heavy component moving and lifting / lowering loads weighing 30,000 lbs / 13,608 kg is done in a compact sturdy design. This product is the only self-propelled remote-controllable crab drive vehicle systems on the market, and totally eliminates the need for pits or trenches typically found in competitors models.

A unique feature is each vehicle also has its’ own central processing unit and interface screen that generates fault messages, allows for manual mode interface, and allows for individual vehicle system programming control. All vehicles can be monitored for their exact positioning and control status by a single traffic control computer that communicates wirelessly using radio frequency signals. The control  screen displays the location of each vehicle, the status of each vehicle (such as any current fault status, and battery levels).

Each drive/steer motor contains its own internal encoder which retains its position in the computers memory during power off. The vehicles can be driven automatically or manually with a wireless joystick in a forward, reverse, or side to side direction (crab walking). The system is powered between work zones and during manual joystick manipulation by batteries equaling a high efficiency, 300VDC system

The Fori AGV system is readily adaptable to many different power sources including induction and lithium based emerging battery technology that can be recharged at each stop or work station and vehicle has an intelligent battery charger to optimize battery life.

Battery Electric Vehicles Are Becoming More Attractive With Advancement Of Battery Technology

Electric vehicles (EVs) are those vehicles which are different from fossil fuel-powered vehicles as they can receive their power from a wide range of sources, including nuclear power, and renewable energies such as tidal power, solar power, and wind power. Battery electric vehicles, or BEVs, are a type of electric vehicles (EVs) that use the chemical energy amassed in rechargeable battery packs. Good batteries are those which can balance between work and power. Batteries with enough energy power vehicles to move for miles and miles. Energy means the amount of work that the battery can store. And power means how fast the battery can deliver the energy. Several manufacturers of Battery electric vehicles purchase batteries with enough energy to move a vehicle many miles; the energy is delivered so slowly that acceleration can be painful.

Like any other electric vehicles, battery electric vehicles use electric motors instead of internal combustion engines (ICEs) for driving force.
