What car is good for converting to an electric car?
I’m interested in a car that is lightweight, has a manual transmission, and has room for batteries. I’m trying to convert a gas car to an electric car, and I need one that is light, has manual transmission, room for batteries, etc, etc. Has anyone done that and has advice/know a good car for it? I have a limited price range, and I need a relatively cheap car for it. Any suggestions? Thanks.

I had a dead battery – we tried to jump start it – it didn’t start – we left the cables on with the other car running for about 5 or 10 minutes then we saw smoke coming from near my battery – turned off other car – removed cables – found out we had + connected to – / bought new battery – car still doesn’t start – no interior lights – no horn – but headlights work – what damage do you think we must have caused

I have an ‘07 Mustang I bought new. It has less than 27,000 miles on it. I’ve been informed that it needs a new battery, but it seems like this NEW battery in a NEW car didn’t last very long. I’ve bought used cars with the original battery that lasted longer – a 3 yrs old car with over 70,000 miles on it, drove for 2 more years on the original battery. So how long SHOULD a car battery last?
Thank You for your answers – glad I bought that extended warrenty!

Now that many of the big manufacturers are planning plug-in electric cars for 2010, what type of electric car would you buy?
Consider that and electric SUV would be powered by lithium ion batteries like a sedan.
I would probably stick with a sedan as I wouldn’t need anything bigger.

I bought her a Lil Driver golf cart battery car that she loves. She drives it around almost everyday. I was thinking it would be neat if she had lights for visibility and fun. Can I use a separate battery so the battery that makes it go doesn’t go dead faster? It is a 6 volt battery car.
